Chit Prasadanam - Yogasutra

 Chit Prasaadan Ke Upaay

According to the Yogasutra-

"Maitri-karuna-mudita-upekshaam-sukh-duhkha-puny-apunya-vishayanayam-bhavnaatasya-chittaprasadanam" (Yogasutra- 1/33)

"मैत्री-करुण-मुदिता-उपेक्षाम्-सुख-दुःख-पुण्य-अपुण्य-विषयनायम्-भावनातस्य-चित्तप्रसादनम्" (योगसूत्र- 1/33)

Friendship, Compassion, Happiness and Indifference - these four types of feelings purify the mind. And is capable of controlling instincts. There should be a feeling of friendship among well-to-do men, a feeling of kindness towards unhappy people. Should keep a sense of joy  in The Holy Spirit men and a sense of indifference in men with a sinful nature. These feelings purify the mind. A pure mind soon attains concentration.

There are all kinds of people in the world, happy, sad, virtuous and sinners. It is natural for the common people to have attachment, malice etc. towards such persons according to their thoughts. Seeing a person happy, attachment to another favorable person develops in him, hatred and jealousy etc. to an unfavorable person.

A pure-minded seeker is entitled to achieve success in yoga. Seeing the happy people, the seeker should develop a sense of friendship towards them. Jealousy never arises towards a friend.

Always have compassion and kindness towards the sad people, try to show them the right path for how their sorrow can be removed. Due to this, the feeling of hatred towards him will never arise in the heart of the seeker. Due to this, peace and consolation will remain in the mind of both.

Similarly, the seeker should experience joy towards the pious soul. Yoga itself is the path of high virtue. When both are pilgrims of the same path, then it is natural to be happy. What can be a matter of more joy than this, if the companions of the path of righteousness and righteousness are always found in the world.

It is absolutely appropriate for the seeker to have a feeling of neglect towards the sinful soul. Efforts to bring such persons on the right path often bring opposite results. Sinful men keep trying to harm their well wishers without understanding their reality and to obstruct their work. That's why the feeling of neglect means indifference towards such persons is better.

In this way, the seeker is successful in keeping his mind pure, clean and happy by keeping his feelings towards different persons awake, which is very useful for attaining the state of Sampragyat Yoga.

The chit becomes pure by the above four means, but it is also necessary to concentrate the chit . Maharishi Patanjali has given the following measures to concentrate and purify the mind (chit ).

Prachhardana vidharanabhyam vaa Pranasya (Yoga Sutra 1/34)

प्रच्छर्दन विधानभ्यं वा प्रणस्य (योग सूत्र 1/34)

By repeatedly practicing to take out the pranavayu from the body and keeping stop it outside as much as possible, purity comes in the mind of the seeker. By this the mind becomes concentrated and stability is achieved. Due to this, the stool of the pulses of the body is also destroyed.

Vishyavati vaa Pravrittirutpanna Manasha sthiti Nibandhani (Yoga sutra 1/35)

विषयवती वा प्रवृत्तिरुत्पन्न मनशा स्थिति निबन्धनी (योग सूत्र 1/35)

By practicing continuously, the seeker gets the vision of divine subjects. The name of Vriti which experiences those divine subjects is VishyaVriti Pravritti. Due to the emergence of such a tendency, the faith and enthusiasm of the seeker in the path of Yoga increases. For this reason, it becomes a reason to stabilize the mind even in the practice of self-reflection.

Vishoka vaa Jyotishmati (Yoga sutra 1/36)

विशोका वा ज्योतिष्मती (योग सूत्र 1/36)

By the practicing continuously, if the seeker experiences a luminous trend sorrowless, then that too stabilizes the mind.

Vitaragavishayam vaa Chittam (Yogasutra 1/37)

वीतरागविषयं वा चित्तम् (योगसूत्र 1/37)

The mind that is devoted to a man of knowledge, disinterested, free from attachment etc. defects, also attains stability. Yogis who are beyond attachment, hatred etc., studying, remembrance the life philosophy of great men, hearing about their character etc. also makes the mind pure.

Swapna NidraGyanaalambanam Vaa (Yoga sutra 1/38)

स्वप्न निद्राज्ञानआलंबनं वा (योग सूत्र 1/38)

That is, the mind that support on divine knowledge during dreams or sleep also attains stability.

Yathabhimatdhyanaad vaa (Yoga sutra 1/39)

यथाभिमतध्यानाद वा (योग सूत्र 1/39)

By meditating on whatever pleases one, the mind becomes pure. By meditating in the form desired by the seeker, the mind soon attains stability. The mind is hardly fixed in an unaccustomed subject. That's why by meditating on the deities of Lord Shiva, Shakti, Ganapati, Sri Vishnu etc., in which one has special interest, the mind attains stability.
